Terms of Service

1. Who we are

MTÜ UNILINK CENTER is a non-profit association (mittetulundusühing) registered in the Estonian Commercial Register under registry code 80668249, at Paepargi tn 53-56, 11417 Tallinn, Estonia. Email: [email protected]. In these Terms, "we" and "us" mean MTÜ UNILINK CENTER, and "you" means the person using our website or app.

2. What these Terms cover

These Terms apply to the website unilinkcenter.com and to SafeLink Guardian, our app at safelink.unilinkcenter.com and on Google Play. By using them, you accept these Terms. Three other documents also apply: the Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data, the Cookie Policy explains what is stored in your browser, and the Donation Terms (document UC-POL-2026-001) govern every donation.

3. Donations, payments and paid work

The website accepts donations only; nothing is sold on it. A donation is never payment for a service. The payment page on this website shows our bank details and a payment reference; the payment itself is made in your own bank or through Wise, under their terms. Consulting, software and systems work is provided only under a separate written contract, at a price agreed in advance and against an invoice; these Terms do not govern such contracts.

4. SafeLink Guardian

SafeLink Guardian is a free personal-safety companion app for people who travel alone or feel at risk. With one action — a button, a spoken word in your own language, or a missed check-in — it alerts a Safety Circle of contacts you have chosen, shares your live location with them and records photos and audio bound to the incident with a SHA-256 fingerprint. It has no paid tier, no trial period and no advertising, and is currently available for Android through Google Play.

SafeLink Guardian does not prevent an attack, does not call emergency services on your behalf and does not replace victim support services. An alert needs an internet connection and a working device; we cannot guarantee that an alert is delivered, or delivered on time. In immediate danger, call 112.

5. Using the service responsibly

You agree to use our website and app lawfully, and the app only for your own safety or the safety of people who have agreed to be in your Safety Circle. In particular:

• add people to your Safety Circle or as emergency contacts only if you are entitled to share their details with us, and tell them that you have done so;
• do not use SafeLink Guardian to track, monitor or record another person without their knowledge (stalkerware); this is forbidden and may be a crime;
• do not trigger false alerts on purpose, try to break the security of the service, or use it to harass anyone;
• keep your device and its screen lock secure, because anyone with access to your unlocked device may be able to use the app in your name.

6. Users under 18

If you are under 18, use SafeLink Guardian only with the consent and involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the website and app available, but they depend on networks, devices and services we do not control, and we cannot promise uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend or end features, for example for security reasons; we will give notice of significant changes where we reasonably can.

8. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow this, including liability for intentional acts or gross negligence, and nothing in them limits the rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law. Within those limits, because the service is free and depends on networks, devices and third-party services, we are not liable for loss caused by an alert that is not delivered, or is delayed, for reasons outside our control.

9. Intellectual property

The content of this website and of the SafeLink Guardian app belongs to MTÜ UNILINK CENTER unless stated otherwise; the Source Sans 3 typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License. Photos, audio and other content you create in the app remain yours; you allow us to store and process them only to provide the service to you.

10. Ending use

You can stop using SafeLink Guardian at any time and ask us to delete your data through the Account Deletion page. We may suspend access where the service is used unlawfully or in breach of section 5, in particular to track another person.

11. Complaints, governing law and courts

Please send any complaint to [email protected] first; we reply without undue delay. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you habitually reside. If you are a consumer domiciled in the European Union, you may bring proceedings against us in the courts of Estonia or in the courts of the place where you are domiciled, and we may bring proceedings against you only in the courts of the country where you are domiciled.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version in force and its effective date are always published on this page; if a change significantly affects you, we will say so on this website before it applies.

13. Language versions

These Terms are published in ten languages. If the versions differ, the English version is the reference text; where a difference would put you at a disadvantage as a consumer, the version more favourable to you applies.
