Key points
Who we are
MTÜ Unilink Center is a non-profit association registered in the Estonian Commercial Register under registry code 80668249, established 12 February 2026, seated at Paepargi tn 53-56, 11417 Tallinn, Estonia. The association is represented by the member of its Management Board, Otto Göçmen, who holds the sole right of representation.
Our statutory objectives are set out in our articles of association, version 7, adopted 5 October 2026 and registered with effect from 25 October 2026. They cover public-interest technology, education and digital empowerment across all age groups, arts, culture and sport, and social, psychosocial and practical support for vulnerable people.
Why we can accept donations from anywhere
Sections 2.34, 7.1, 7.6 and 7.7 of our registered articles authorise us to collect and accept donations, sponsorship, crowdfunding and other lawful funding from Estonia, the European Union and anywhere else in the world, irrespective of where the donor is.
That covers one-off and regular individual giving, corporate sponsorship and partnership, crowdfunding and community campaigns, foundation grants, legacies, and donations from people and organisations outside the European Union. We may also run public campaigns and collect in public space and at events, observing the law of the country concerned, including any local permit requirement.
How you can give
- Bank transfer
- Card and online payment through licensed payment service providers
- A donation function inside our own mobile and web applications
- Payment links and QR codes
- Card terminals at events
- Public donation campaigns, including cash collection
We do not accept donations in cryptocurrency or other virtual assets, and we do not accept cash sent by post.
No separate agreement is needed
A donation is a voluntary, one-sided transfer. We do not conclude a written agreement with each donor and we do not ask you to sign anything. These published terms are the complete framework between you and us.
By donating you confirm that you have read these terms, that the money is lawfully yours to give, and that you give it without condition and without expecting anything in return. If you want to record a larger or recurring commitment in writing, you can ask us for a donation agreement. That is optional and does not change these terms.
What a donation is — and is not
A donation is not payment for goods or services. It is not consideration, it is not linked to or set off against any invoice, order or deliverable, and it creates no commercial relationship.
A donation gives you no ownership interest, no membership, no vote, no right to direct our work, no priority in receiving any service, and no influence over which beneficiaries we support.
Sponsorship is different. If a sponsor receives something identifiable in return — logo placement, naming, advertising, promotional visibility, event rights — that is a supply of services. It is agreed in a separate written contract, it is invoiced, and it is not recorded as a donation.
Where an organisation is both a client and a donor, we keep the two strictly apart: separate transactions, separate references, separate accounting entries. Neither is set off against the other.
What we do with the money
Every donation is applied exclusively to our statutory objectives. We distribute no profit to our members. You may tell us which programme area you would like to support; our Management Board decides on allocation and may decline a preference.
We keep separate accounting records for our statutory activity and our auxiliary economic activity, in line with the Estonian Accounting Act, and we report all donations in the annual report filed with the Estonian Commercial Register.
Checks we run on the money
We apply the Estonian Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act and the principles of Directive (EU) 2015/849, using a risk-based approach. We do not ask donors for identification, contact details or information on the source of funds unless one of the situations below, or a refund request, makes it necessary.
| Situation | What we do |
|---|---|
| Every donation | We record the data the payment channel delivers — date, amount, currency, channel and, where provided, the payer’s name and account — and screen the name against EU, UN, UK and US sanctions lists. |
| Sanctions | If the donor or their beneficial owner is subject to an international financial sanction binding on Estonia, the funds are frozen, are not used and are not returned. We notify the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit (Rahapesu Andmebüroo) and follow its instructions. |
| Reason for suspicion | If facts give reason to suspect that funds come from crime or are linked to terrorist financing, the Management Board keeps them unused, records its assessment in writing and notifies the Financial Intelligence Unit. |
| Unusual donation | A donation unusual in its size or circumstances is assessed in writing by the Management Board before use. The default outcome of that assessment is acceptance. |
| Cash above the legal threshold | Where the Act applies to us — in particular to cash from one person within one year above the threshold it sets — we apply the due-diligence measures it requires. |
Funds frozen or held unused in these situations are dealt with only as the competent authority instructs; we do not return them on our own initiative.
We are not an intermediary. We do not receive or hold funds destined for anyone else; every donation is received for our own statutory purposes. This does not restrict the help we ourselves decide to give to the people we support, which we record as our own decision.
How cash collection works
Where we collect cash, this procedure applies:
- Cash is received only by the Management Board or by a collector holding its written authorisation, which states its scope, validity period and the location or event. The collector shows a copy on request.
- Cash is collected in sealed and numbered containers, or received directly and entered at once in a collection record. A receipt is issued on request; it need not name the donor.
- A collector hands the cash over to the Management Board within three business days, with a handover-acceptance act stating the event, date, location, amount and both parties.
- The cash is entered in the association’s accounts and cash book, held in the association’s cash box until deposited, and deposited into the association’s own account with a reference to the act or the collection record.
- Any onward transfer references the act or record, so the full chain from collection to deposit can be reconstructed from the records.
Cash is never deposited into a private account and never kept by a collector for more than three business days.
Donating inside our apps
Where we offer a donation function in one of our own mobile or web applications, the payment is processed entirely by licensed payment service providers. We do not hold or process card data ourselves.
Where an application is distributed through a third-party app store, we implement the donation function only in a way that store’s payment policy permits at the time. In-app donations are subject to these terms in full.
Tax
We make no representation that a donation is tax-deductible, or produces any tax advantage, credit or relief, for you in any country.
We are not at present included in the Estonian list of non-profit associations, foundations and religious associations benefiting from income tax incentives under the Income Tax Act. If we are later included, the resulting deduction is available to Estonian resident donors only and has no effect for donors resident elsewhere.
How a donation is taxed in your own country is governed by that country’s law; please seek advice from your own adviser.
Your data
We process donors’ personal data as controller under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) to administer donations, to meet our accounting, reporting, anti-money-laundering and sanctions obligations, and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, including card disputes and recall requests. We send you news about our work only if you have agreed, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
Accounting source documents are kept for seven years from the end of the financial year in which the transaction was recorded; anti-money-laundering records are kept for the period the law requires. We do not sell, rent or share donor data for anyone else’s commercial purposes. You may exercise your rights under the GDPR — access, rectification, restriction, erasure where no retention obligation applies, portability where it applies, and objection — by writing to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, www.aki.ee).
We do not publish donor names or disclose them to third parties without the donor’s consent, except where the law requires disclosure to an authority. Fully anonymous donations are accepted, in particular through public cash collection. A confirmation of receipt is issued on request.
Refunds, complaints and applicable law
A completed donation is final. After verification, we return a payment to the account it came from only if it was made by mistake, in a duplicated amount or by someone without authority over the money — such a payment was never a donation — or if a court, a bankruptcy trustee or another competent authority orders its return by a decision binding on us. Send your request with evidence of the error to [email protected]; we answer within thirty days. In other cases we do not consent to the recall of a completed donation, and we contest card disputes concerning completed voluntary donations.
Complaints go to [email protected] and the Management Board answers within thirty days. These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Estonia. If you donate as a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you habitually reside, and if you live in the European Union you may bring proceedings in the courts of Estonia or of the place where you live.
We may amend these terms. The version in force when you donate applies to that donation, and the current version is always published here with its effective date. If a provision is or becomes invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force.
